Logo Variations

For the vertical logo, we wanted to resemble the feeling of classic Greek columns since we are, after all, in the Classic City. However, we wanted it to look modern and simple. Therefore, we incorporated a slanted abreviation of Athens, “ATH,” into the constructed columns. We utilized the differences of the two blues to contrast the “ATH” from the rest of the columns. The “Code For” on the top reflects the line on the bottom to resemble the top and bottom of the columns. For the horizontal logo, we wanted to create a logo that contained “Athens,” not just “ATH.” We also wanted to incorporate the same columns, but in a different way. We wanted to keep it clean so that it displays well for our website viewers and clients to read easily while still sending the same message. We used our header font, Antonio, for this logo but also utilized the “A” from the vertical logo to keep the logos cohesive. The blue colors are contrasted in this logo to make both lines of text stand out.

Colors

For our colors, we are using Persian Indigo, Blue Cola, Onyx, and white. Persian Indigo is the dark blue color, which we used from the Code for America logo, and the inspiration for Blue Cola, which is the light blue, came from the Athens Clarke County website. We are also using white, and a charcoal gray called Onyx as accent colors. The blues contrast each other due to the difference in lightness and darkness of them while the gray and white provide neutral colors.

Typography

For our fonts, we looked for fonts that are simple yet modern. We chose Antonio Bold as our header font, Antonio Medium as our subhead font, and Barlow as our body font. Antonio is tall and narrow, providing for aesthetically pleasing headers, while Barlow is more rounded, shorter, and easier to read when in body copy. Both fonts look very clean on the website and pair together to create an elegant feel.

Page Titles: Antonio (size: 60, weight: 700)
